01 UNYIELDING WITHOUT HOSTILITY
Foucault, in "The History of Sexuality," mentions how authoritative language first expelled sex and then perpetually spawned it in its absence. Taking "the elephant in the room" as an example, if we metaphorize this elephant as the force of power, I observe that in collective silence, people also choose to expand spaces within rooms for unconscious resistance and continue their life trajectories in new spaces. It can be said that the forces of power continuously construct and regulate people's behavior through rules and laws. However, individuals within these powerful collectives often find dynamic, subtle, and imperceptible paths to traverse established spaces, effectively infiltrating the power system and continually restructuring disciplines and regulations in a process of subtle resistance.

02 MEMORY
The concept of death is a topic that every young child must face as they grow. From the very beginning of life, death stands in opposition to survival, implicitly threatening various situations that jeopardize life. However, in East Asia, when death occurs, it becomes a taboo subject (Wang, Hsin-Yi p121). Adults often avoid letting children face the truth of death directly and instead romanticize it. In this work, I use a child's perspective to depict memories of death. This stems from my own recollections. My grandfather's father, in his old age, would sit on an old blue sofa for years. Once, I brought him a dandelion, and he crushed it immediately. I squatted down to gather the pieces and looked up to see a corner of his blue sofa, which had worn out and become frayed. Not long after, he passed away, but my family said there should be no crying because it would make him unhappy if he heard it.

03 FEMALE POETRY OF RURAL CHINA
In the Chinese countryside, there is this group of women who were born in the countryside, who write poetry in the countryside, and who will die in the countryside. Educated in some basic ways and fond of writing poems, these poems are full of the raw power of life. In real life, they need to bear the burden of the whole family, put up with the battering and lazy habits of their other halves, and take full responsibility for raising their children. In life they are [crazy], online they are [talented]. This project tells their story.

04 NORTH KOREAN BIRDES
In the 21st century, Andrei Lankov, in his article North Korean Refugees in Northeast China, discusses the number of North Korean women in China as being around 220,000. The first place they enter is the North East China bordering North Korea, and they choose to marry local men in North East China to obtain a short stay. They are also unable to maintain good relations with their husbands' families and have no voice in public because of their language and living habits.
This group of people, collectively known as the North Korean Brides.

05 WATER GHOSTS
Water ghosts are a type of water spirit in Chinese folklore, referring to people who die accidentally in the water, and whose souls wander secretly under the water and are nourished by the lake's yin energy, turning into water ghosts, mostly in rivers, lakes and seas. Some people see water spirits as a tool to make money, while others see them as gods to save lives. The water spirits have no physical form, but they have taken on too many human desires and have taken on a form.

06 MY MOTHER
My mother is not a typical Chinese mother, she doesn't force me to do anything and supports all my decisions. At the same time, she was a very liberal personality herself, but for a long time, she kept telling me about the bondage she was under and the resistance she made. It taught me very young that not everyone is born to love life. There are people in this world who don't want to be good daughters, good wives, and good mothers.
At the beginning of 2020, she had breast cancer, which she recovered from after a year of treatment. But after her recovery, she became gentle and calm, as Wang Xiaobo said in The Golden Age, "becoming a hammered cow". She still fiercely resisted but with very little strength left. So I made this project to tell the story of my mother's life of constant resistance and constant entrapment.
