Letter of Artistic Direction
Video My mother is not a typical Chinese mother, she doesn't force me to do anything and supports all my decisions. At the same time, she was a very liberal personality herself, but for a long time, she kept telling me about the bondage she was under and the resistance she made. It taught me very young that not everyone is born to love life. There are people in this world who don't want to be good daughters, good wives, and good mothers.
At the beginning of 2020, she had breast cancer, which she recovered from after a year of treatment. But after her recovery, she became gentle and calm, as Wang Xiaobo said in The Golden Age, "becoming a hammered cow". She still fiercely resisted but with very little strength left. So I made this project to tell the story of my mother's life of constant resistance and constant entrapment.
